What is Blank Slate?
Originally title Chalk, Blank Slate was a story based on a lucid dream I had, an analogy of looking back on a world that had become mundane, boring, repeatable, and making the journey to change it by looking for something more. I always planned to animate it as a short but never had the patience for 2D animation, not that 3D is any the less taxing (if anything it's more), but it's something I have a knack for, and it wasn't until the latest builds of Blender, with dynamic paint and Freestyle, I was able to create the world and the characters I was looking for.
Blank Slate isn't so much a moral tale as it is a spiritual journey for the main character. I believe it's a tale that holds many meanings, and will hold true to anyone in whatever situation they may be in.
I have already started work on the preliminary set up and animation, the story board is as much in my head as it is on paper, though I am unsure as to how long it's going to be. Between 7 and t10 mins is the focus but we'll see where it goes. Anyways next post I will do a quick tutorial on a few tricks I've learned on the way.
If you feel so inclined to donate to the project (as a starving artist has to eat sometime) I have a paypal button to the left of the screen. All donators will get a mention in the titles. I may add a few bonuses based on a sliding scale of donations later on, but for now it's a help if you can or want to situation. Regardless I plan to be done come the middle of September, so I hope you enjoy the blog. Until next time, ciao.
